At the inception of the Institute, our team identified that many of the solutions to the world’s most complex problems lie outside the disciplines in which they are defined. We can develop best practices, new solutions and better policies by extending our reach, seeking solutions in other fields. Health challenges have already been explored in parallel with aviation, behavioral economics and business – broader multisectorial collaborations are ripe for exploration. The solutions can be found in the conversations between cultures, perspectives, and experiences.
Nyes Institute aims to sustain progressive collaborations and to seek out solutions to complex problems using these networks. Nyes achieves these goals by strengthening the intersection between a diverse group of professionals, academics and practitioners in and around the health sector. Â It provides the landscape to connect expertise to better serve the world around us.
Nyes Institute is made up of three branches, each designed to contribute to our core goals and values: Nyes Collaborative, Solutions, and Reviews. Our team spans across all three in order to increase collaboration and produce high quality output.
In 2012, a group of academics and international physicians spent time on Nyes Neck Road, on the coast of New England. In conversation, they were struck by commonalities in their practice, research and thinking. They realized that problems and their potential solutions transcended countries, disciplines and culture. They subsequently founded the Institute to allow discussion to continue, and named it for the road that lay ahead – Nyes.
